Attendance and Registration

Forte | Piano 2025 is both a conference and a festival — a rich convergence of music, scholarship, performance, and community centered around historical pianos. We are excited to welcome performers, scholars, students, builders, restorers, and the wider public to take part.

Who Needs to Register?

Most events at Forte | Piano 2025 are open only to registered participants. Registration is required if you want to attend:

  • Lecture-recitals
  • Scholarly presentations
  • Panel discussions
  • Workshops with international experts in performance, musicology, instrument restoration, and regulation
  • Informal tea gatherings

The full schedule can be found under Conference Events tab.

You must register if you are:

  • Presenting as a speaker, performer, panelist, or lecturer
  • A scholar, student, or audience member interested in the full conference experience
  • Planning to attend any daytime or conference-only events

Registering helps us ensure adequate seating, accessibility, and smooth organization for all sessions.

What’s Open to the Public?

A series of free evening concerts are open to the general public — no registration or tickets required. These performances, featuring acclaimed artists, are a celebration of music for all and take place most evenings during the festival. Details available under Public Events tab.

Cost to Attend

Public evening concerts are always free and open to everyone. All other events are free with conference registration.

Registration operates on a sliding scale — a flexible fee structure that allows participants to pay what they can. We provide suggested amounts, but you are welcome to contribute more or less based on your financial circumstances.

  • $200 suggested for music scholars, performers, and professionals
  • Free or pay-as-you-can for undergraduate and graduate students
  • $20–$100 suggested for audience members attending a small number of registration-only events, depending on how many days they plan to participate

If you're able, we warmly welcome additional donations at the time of registration. Your support helps ensure that Forte | Piano remains a multi-year, sustainable project — one that fully engages the historical piano collection and continues to serve both our local community and the international early music field.
