Visit and Access

726 University Avenue Access/Use Policy

The Cornell Center for Historical Keyboards (CCHK) encourages both members of the Cornell community and external guests to make extensive use of its collections for the purposes of performance and research.  Procedures and access to the main set of collections, at 726 University Avenue, are as follows:

  • Faculty members with the Department of Music are given automatic privileges to take advantage of the collections, as are graduate students and candidates within the Department of Music’s DMA program in Keyboard Studies.  A link to the Google calendar will be shared with those with automatic privileges.
  • All other faculty, staff, and graduate students at Cornell will be granted privileges to use the collections on a case-by-case basis.  Individuals are required to complete the CCHK 726 Form.  Any inquiries should contact Patricia Garcia Gil, CCHK Postdoctoral Artist-in Residence at pg495@cornell.edu.
  • Cornell undergraduates will require faculty or qualified staff sponsorship in order to make use of the Center’s instruments; faculty and staff members will be asked kindly to share their sponsorship with Patricia Garcia Gil over email, cc’ing the student under consideration.  Approval will need to take place annually during a student’s undergraduate career.  In addition to the sponsorship, undergraduate students will also be required to complete the CCHK 726 Form.
  • Guests from outside of the Cornell community should arrange for a time to visit the Center directly with Patricia Garcia Gil (pg495@cornell.edu) and/or completing the CCHK 726 Form.
  • Please limit your on-site use of collections to no more than two hours per visit.

*Please note that the Center regulates access to the collections according to a schedule.  It is thus advised that visitors from both on and off campus coordinate with the Center to book an appointment for a time to visit.  Otherwise, authorized individuals may make use of the collections on a first come/first serve basis.  Access to instruments is contingent upon the existing schedule of Center events and whether an instrument may be on loan, undergoing maintenance and/or offsite.
