This Friday, November 17: Salon with Patricia Garcia Gil

Marianna Martines (1744-1812) and her keyboard sonatas

Salon with Patricia Garcia Gil, Friday November 17, 5pm

Who was Marianne Martines and what was it like for a young woman to pursue a career as a composer and keyboardist in the Vienna of Haydn and Mozart? In the final Historical Keyboard Salon of the Fall 2023 semester on Friday, November 17th at 5pm at AD White House, the CCHK is joined by Spanish fortepianist Patricia Garcia Gil for conversation and music centered on the life and work of Martines. The evening will center around two early pianos from the CCHK collection.

Patricia studied piano in Spain and the UK, fortepiano in Italy, and is currently pursuing a DMA in Historical Keyboards at UNCG. Winner of international competitions, she collaborates with prestigious early music institutions all over the world. With her repertoire choices and research, she strives for IDEA by enhancing the profiles of underrecognized female composer-pianists and outreaching to audiences who tend to connect rarely with classical music. Patricia was presented as Emerging Artist by Early Music America in 2022. She serves on the Board of Directors of HKSNA and the EPLC- EMA team. www.patriciagarciagil.com
