The University Organist brings the 2024-25 Cornell year to a close with two major and much-loved works by J. S. Bach. The program opens with the variations on the chorale “Sei gegrüsset, Jesu gütig,” which movingly explore the manifold colors and textures of the Baroque organ; it concludes with the magnificent Toccata, Adagio and Fugue, in which the manual and solo pedal dexterity of the Toccata, the serene Italianate beauty of the Adagio, and the rollicking contrapuntal wit of the Fugue are folded together into a Bachian masterpiece.
Join us for the final organ midday break on Wednesday, April 30th at Anabel Taylor Chapel at 12:30pm. This event is free and open to the public.
