Guest organist Jeffrey Snedeker presents “L’Orgue Mystique: Music for the Feasts of Ascension and Pentecost from 17th and 20th century France.” The evocative space of Sage Chapel and its Aeolian-Skinner organ provide an ideal milieu for mystical and transcendent works by 20th-century French organists Charles Tournemire, Olivier Messiaen and Maurice Duruflé, composed for the Christian festivals of Ascension and Pentecost. These will be contrasted with equally captivating works for the season by their 17th-century counterparts Guillaume-Gabriel Nivers and Nicolas de Grigny. The program includes the complete suite L’Ascension by Messiaen, and the Prelude, Adagio et Choral varié sur le theme du “Veni Creator” by Duruflé.
Join us on Tuesday, April 29th at Sage Chapel at 7:30pm. This event is free and open to the public.
